Hoisting and RiggingAgain, a totally different topic from our last CPD. To reiterate the chamber`s firm commitment to the importance of Health and Safety, as from next week, we are going to start a series of lectures that will focus on the different aspects of this crucial topic in the life cycle of a construction project. We started by covering the broader spectrum of the subject by joining forces with the BICC in providing the H&S course for Professionals (Construction). As this course featured a good number of topics, from fall from heights to housekeeping, it was clear that not only must the subject be kept alive but go in more depth on the specifics. We believe that more needs to be done when it comes to Health and Safety. More awareness and yes, people involved must understand their respective responsibilities and obligations. Pointing figures following an accident will take us nowhere, we need to be more proactive, let's use the experiences of other countries and learn from them. Providing these courses is our H&S advisor Mr Michael Spiteri.#healthandsafety #education #maltachamberofconstructionmanagement #cpd

What a week! My biggest point of reflection this week....I am incredibly grateful that I have the opportunity to see so many quality BOCES programs. By law, to keep their accreditation they must host consultant committee meetings, this week I attended two of them. Consultant committees - in New York State, by and large our BOCES centers are doing a great job working with juniors and seniors in high school. They have a lot on their plate. For example, usually there are two, and possibly three educators working with between 20 - 30 students, twice a day. Not only that but they are serving as the fleet managers, safety professionals, foremen, site superintendents, financial analysts (planning equipment purchases), councilors, mentors, advocates, all this while still maintaining classroom discipline and providing a positive educational experience for their students. I have sat on their side of the table, so now as a representative for a contractor they are asking for my opinion on what to teach, is it effective, what they should buy, is it consistent with industry trends. Ya know what I notice, there are not a lot of people around the table. If we want these programs to send us potential team members we (the contractors) need to support them. You know what else? Support looks like a lot of different things. Just spending time and assisting the instructors is huge. It doesn't have to cost us millions. Instead of a full on rant, let this be a word of encouragement. The instructors at these schools want to be seen. In most cases they want us in their classrooms. Let's try to make this happen this year. Get involved with your local vocational program. Get involved with SkillsUSA.Just get involved. Ask me how. #builtinboots #betterdirtworld #bluecollaropenbook

We go beyond policies and procedures with safety. When we do safety audits, we tour the job site with everyone from foremen to apprentices to project managers. For us, it's about taking the time to really understand the obstacles they may face to safety. Investing the time into listening shows us their mindset. In this clip, our leader, Aaron Landolt, talks about our approach to really hearing every voice and lifting them up. Watch the full episode of Doing the Hard Work, featuring Calvin Clark, our Vice President of Health & Safety, at https://lnkd.in/ghEfKtUD. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

What is passing score for CSP?The passing score for the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) exam is determined by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). The BCSP does not publicly disclose the exact passing score for the CSP exam. Instead, they use a scaled scoring system to determine whether a candidate has achieved a passing score. The scaled scoring system takes into account the difficulty level of each question on the exam and adjusts the passing score accordingly. This ensures that the passing score remains consistent across different versions of the exam and accurately reflects a candidate's knowledge and competency in the field of safety. To pass the CSP exam, it is important to thoroughly prepare and study the exam content outline provided by the BCSP. This outline details the knowledge areas and topics that will be covered on the exam. By focusing on understanding and mastering these areas, you can increase your chances of achieving a passing score on the CSP exam.https://lnkd.in/gh3FpUbZ
